Major League Baseball plans to return to the "Field of Dreams" movie site in Dyersville, Iowa, for a regular-season game in August 2026, people familiar with the decision said. The contest is expected to pit the Minnesota Twins, who will be designated the home team, against the Philadelphia Phillies, marking the league’s first appearance at the corn-bordered venue since 2022. The revival rekindles an event that debuted in 2021, when the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox walked through the cornfields made famous by the 1989 film. A temporary ballpark used for the first two games was dismantled, and a newly constructed permanent stadium—projected to hold fewer than the roughly 7,800 spectators who attended earlier editions—will host the 2026 matchup. The game would be Minnesota’s first alternate-site appearance since a 2018 series in Puerto Rico; Philadelphia has played showcase games in Williamsport and London in recent seasons. MLB is scheduled to publish its complete 2026 calendar on Tuesday, and officials have signaled that, with a permanent facility in place, the Field of Dreams game could join the Little League Classic as a regular feature of the league’s special-events lineup.
