The Tampa Bay Rays used a three-run sixth inning to pull ahead and defeat the Detroit Tigers 7–3 on Wednesday night. Detroit opened the scoring in the fourth when Spencer Torkelson drove in Gleyber Torres, who had led off the frame with a double. Tampa Bay answered in the sixth, turning a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 advantage and adding two insurance runs an inning later. Rays starter Zack Littell settled after early trouble, while relievers Kevin Kelly and Garrett Cleavinger combined to escape a bases-loaded jam in the seventh to preserve the lead.
