Major League Baseball clubs continued to reshuffle their rosters Friday as two high-profile players were sidelined with arm and hand ailments. The Cincinnati Reds placed rookie right-hander Chase Burns on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Tuesday, after an MRI revealed a Grade 1 strain in his right flexor tendon. Burns, 22, has flashed elite strikeout stuff—57 punch-outs in 34 ⅓ innings—but is winless at 0-3 with a 5.24 ERA through eight starts since his June 24 debut. Left-handed reliever Joe La Sorsa was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to fill the roster spot. On the West Coast, the San Francisco Giants put five-time Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman on the 10-day IL with renewed inflammation in the right hand he originally injured diving into first base on June 8. Chapman, hitting 6-for-45 in August, had returned from a month-long absence in July but continued to experience soreness. San Francisco reinstated right-hander Landen Roupp to start Friday night and brought up Keaton Winn from Triple-A Sacramento while reliever Ryan Walker went on the paternity list.
