Miramax has confirmed that original stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall will reprise their roles as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks in “Scary Movie 6,” the first new instalment in the horror-parody franchise in more than a decade. The film is slated for a global theatrical release through Paramount on 12 June 2026. The project reunites Keenen Ivory, Shawn and Marlon Wayans, who are writing the script with longtime collaborator Rick Alvarez—marking the brothers’ first joint screenplay for the series in 18 years. Michael Tiddes, known for the Wayans-led “A Haunted House,” will direct, with production expected to begin in October 2025. Launched in 2000, the five-film “Scary Movie” series has earned close to $900 million worldwide and set an R-rated horror opening-weekend record of $42.5 million with its debut entry. Producers are positioning the reboot to tap renewed audience appetite for both horror and nostalgia-driven comedies.
