Jazz saxophonist Dave Koz and members of his Dave Koz & Friends Summer Horns tour staged an impromptu jam session for fellow passengers after their 11 August flight from St. Louis to Seattle was repeatedly delayed and ultimately diverted to Boise, Idaho. According to Koz, the aircraft was forced to land in Boise after flight-crew duty limits were reached and a mechanical issue arose, leaving travelers stranded on the tarmac for several hours. A flight attendant who noticed the musicians’ carry-on instruments asked whether they would play to relieve the tension. Koz, fellow saxophonist Marcus Anderson and trombonist Jeff Bradshaw performed Stevie Wonder’s “You Haven’t Done Nothin’” in the aisle, drawing smiles and phone cameras from passengers. Video of the single-song set has since circulated widely on social media, offering the latest visibility boost for the Summer Horns tour, which had already cancelled two earlier shows because of travel disruptions. The Seattle dates went ahead as scheduled.
