The fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X from Netflix's animated musical fantasy film "KPop Demon Hunters" has achieved a historic milestone with their song "Golden" reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This marks the first time a female K-pop group has topped the Hot 100, and the first girl group to do so since Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious" in 2021. "Golden" is also the first No. 1 song on the Hot 100 from a film since the Encanto Cast's "We Don't Talk About Bruno." The track has dominated the Billboard Global charts for four consecutive weeks and has led the United World Chart for three weeks. It garnered 31.7 million official streams, a 9% increase, and an 8.4 million radio airplay audience. The success of "Golden" has contributed to "KPop Demon Hunters" becoming Netflix's most-watched animated film since its release in June 2025. Industry observers are predicting potential Oscar nominations for "Golden" in the Best Original Song category and for the film in Best Animated Feature. This achievement also places HUNTR/X among the few animated fictional bands to top popular music charts, a feat last accomplished in 1969.
