MTV has expanded the performance roster for the 2025 Video Music Awards, confirming that Jelly Roll, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Tate McRae and Conan Gray will take the stage at the ceremony on 7 September. The show will be broadcast live coast-to-coast from 8 p.m. ET on CBS, simulcast on MTV and streamed on Paramount+ in the United States. The network also released the shortlists for its two fan-voted social categories. Best Group pits K-pop mainstays aespa, BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids against acts ranging from Backstreet Boys and Coldplay to regional Mexican bands Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera. Song of the Summer contenders include Addison Rae’s “Headphones On,” Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” Doja Cat’s “Jealous Type” and Tate McRae’s “Just Keep Watching,” among others. Voting for Best Group opens on 2 September, with Song of the Summer polling beginning 6 September. Both races close the morning of the ceremony, allowing fans to influence the winners up to hours before the awards are handed out.
