HYBE said on Tuesday that Scooter Braun is stepping down as chief executive officer of HYBE America, ending a four-year tenure running the U.S. arm of the South Korean entertainment group behind BTS and Seventeen. Braun will move into an executive advisory position, keep his seat on the board and remain the company’s second-largest individual shareholder as he pursues undisclosed new ventures. Isaac Lee, who has chaired HYBE Latin America since November 2023, will assume the combined role of chairman and CEO of HYBE Americas and take over day-to-day operations. Chairman Bang Si-Hyuk praised Braun as “an extraordinary partner” whose leadership was “vital in establishing our ambitious presence in the U.S. market.” Braun joined HYBE in 2021 when the conglomerate bought his Ithaca Holdings, the parent of SB Projects and Big Machine Label Group, giving him a board seat and co-CEO title that became sole CEO in January 2023. During his tenure, HYBE America struck a $320 million deal for hip-hop label Quality Control and inked distribution agreements with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def and Universal Music Group, expanding the company’s footprint in North America. The reshuffle comes as HYBE continues to widen its global reach while navigating regulatory scrutiny at home. Braun said overseeing the company’s U.S. growth had been “one of the most inspiring chapters” of his career and that he would support Bang and Lee “in their continued success” while focusing on his next project.
