U.S. Customs and Border Protection has dispatched its Border Patrol Special Operations Group, including BORSTAR rescue teams, to the Texas Hill Country after days of heavy rain triggered destructive flash floods. The agents are conducting search, rescue and humanitarian missions in several Central Texas communities and will remain on site until operations conclude, the agency said. CBP’s Office of Field Operations has also deployed personnel to bolster local emergency services. Separately, the Hill County Sheriff’s Office has organized a task force of firefighters, deputies and emergency-management staff from Hill and Bosque counties to aid Williamson County, which requested additional manpower, equipment and drones for ongoing searches. State and local officials have not yet released full damage or casualty estimates, but authorities describe the flooding as among the most severe to hit the region in recent years. Responders are urging residents to avoid flooded roadways and to follow evacuation orders as more rainfall is forecast.
