The National Weather Service late Wednesday issued a series of flash-flood warnings covering much of the Denver metro area, including Boulder, Broomfield, Jefferson and Adams counties. The alerts run through midnight Mountain Daylight Time for Boulder, Broomfield and Jefferson counties and until 1:15 a.m. MDT for Adams County. Earlier in the evening, the agency posted similar warnings for central Missouri communities such as Marshall, Boonville and Fayette, effective until midnight Central Daylight Time. Forecasters said the affected regions could see rapid rises in creeks and low-lying areas, and they urged drivers to avoid water-covered roads as heavy thunderstorms move across the Front Range and parts of Missouri.
