Dallas’s two major professional sports franchises have parted with their marquee talents in the same calendar year. Earlier in 2025, the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks traded All-Star guard Luka Doncic, ending the Slovenian player’s six-season stint with the club. On 28 August, the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys followed suit by dealing two-time All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons. The twin departures strip the city of a pair of generational athletes who had been viewed as cornerstones of their respective teams. The moves, confirmed by multiple national sports outlets, leave both franchises facing significant roster overhauls ahead of their upcoming seasons.
