Longtime University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame over the weekend. The honor recognizes his success at Louisiana State University, where he guided the Tigers to the 2003 national championship before departing for the NFL and later Alabama. During the ceremony, Saban reflected on his five-season tenure in Baton Rouge, saying, “I felt like we did something to raise the bar here. And the program has been outstanding ever since.” Since taking over at Alabama in 2007, Saban has gone 13–5 against his former team, highlighted by a decisive victory over LSU in the 2012 BCS National Championship Game at New Orleans’ Superdome.
