Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy will appear on Fox Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff” outside Ohio Stadium this Saturday, but he is not expected to enter the venue for the show’s final hour during No. 2 Ohio State’s season opener against top-ranked Texas. Front Office Sports first reported that Ohio State had barred both Portnoy and Barstool from campus, citing unnamed sources; multiple outlets repeated the claim. Ohio State disputed the report on Tuesday. Athletic director Ross Bjork told Yahoo Sports the university “did not ban anyone,” saying Fox informed campus officials that only its main desk talent—excluding Portnoy—would be on the in-stadium set. A Big Ten spokesperson delivered a similar account. Fox Sports has declined to comment publicly. Portnoy, a Michigan graduate and vocal critic of the Buckeyes, released a video insisting the decision originated with Ohio State and that Barstool’s separate college-football show in Columbus had been scrapped. Former Notre Dame quarterback and Fox analyst Brady Quinn suggested the school was engaged in “damage control.” Whether Portnoy will be excluded from other Big Ten stadiums this season remains unclear, but the controversy has already amplified attention on Fox’s new on-air hire ahead of one of the marquee games of Week 1.
