New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart is expected to rejoin the lineup Monday night against the Connecticut Sun after missing 13 games with a bone bruise in her right knee, head coach Sandy Brondello said. Stewart, a two-time WNBA Most Valuable Player, last played on July 26. The Liberty struggled during her absence, posting a 5–8 record and sliding from second to fifth place in the league standings. Stewart has averaged 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 24 starts this season. Brondello added that guard Sabrina Ionescu, who sat out Saturday’s loss to Atlanta with an ankle issue, is also on track to play. Monday’s matchup at Barclays Center is pivotal for New York as it seeks to regain ground in the playoff race.
