The Los Angeles Rams capped a back-and-forth preseason contest with a last-second touchdown to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night at SoFi Stadium. Quarterback Stetson Bennett found wide receiver Tru Edwards in the end zone with five seconds remaining, erasing a late deficit and delivering the Rams’ first exhibition victory of the summer. Bennett, competing for the Rams’ No. 2 quarterback job, finished 28-of-40 for 324 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, posting a 108.8 passer rating. His lone turnover came earlier in the fourth quarter when 305-pound rookie defensive tackle TeRah Edwards snagged a short pass and rumbled 27 yards, a play that drew an animated “big man interception” call from CBS Los Angeles announcer Noah Eagle. Edwards, an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma, provided one of the Chargers’ few bright spots on a night when the defense could not hold the lead. For the Rams, undrafted receiver Isaac TeSlaa added four catches for 41 yards and a score, underscoring a productive evening for the club’s young offensive hopefuls.
