The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived rookie safety Shilo Sanders after he threw a punch during a preseason game, the club confirmed on 26 August. Colorado head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, Shilo’s father, downplayed the roster move in comments released by the university’s football program the same day. “All of the Sanders are going to be straight, with or without football,” he said, adding that his son has ‘many talents’ outside the sport. Shilo Sanders, 24, signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in the spring after transferring from Jackson State to play under his father at Colorado. His departure leaves the Buccaneers with 89 players as they approach the NFL’s final roster-cut deadline next week.
