The Dallas Cowboys have retained their position as the world’s most valuable sports franchise, with Sportico’s 2025 survey placing the team’s worth at $12.8 billion—nearly $2.4 billion more than any other National Football League club and roughly $2.5 billion higher than a year ago. It is the sixth straight year the Cowboys have led the annual ranking. The Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants became the second and third NFL organizations to surpass the $10 billion threshold, at $10.43 billion and $10.25 billion respectively. The New England Patriots were valued at $8.76 billion, while the San Francisco 49ers rounded out the top five at $8.6 billion, a 25 percent increase that coincided with a sale of a 6.2 percent minority stake earlier this year. Sportico calculated the average value of the league’s 32 franchises at $7.1 billion, up 20 percent from 2024 and more than double the figure four years ago. The Washington Commanders entered the top 10 at $7.47 billion, whereas the Cincinnati Bengals remained last at $5.5 billion, underscoring the widening gulf in team valuations. Owner Jerry Jones, who purchased the Cowboys for $140 million in 1989, attributed part of his franchise’s enduring prominence to a deliberate strategy of generating year-round buzz, saying he will “stir it up” when public attention wanes. The approach has helped drive an appreciation of more than 8,000 percent in the club’s value over the past 36 years.
