The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to acquire defensive tackle Khalen Saunders from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for offensive lineman Luke Fortner, according to multiple reports late Sunday. News of the swap emerged hours after the two clubs played to a 17–17 tie in a preseason game in New Orleans. Saunders, who turned 29 on 9 Aug., has started 27 of 30 games for the Saints over the past two seasons and logged 43 tackles and two sacks last year. A third-round pick by Kansas City in 2019, he owns 181 tackles, 6.5 sacks and one interception across 68 career regular-season appearances and collected Super Bowl rings with the Chiefs in the 2019 and 2022 seasons. Fortner, 27, was selected by Jacksonville in the third round of the 2022 draft and opened his career with 34 consecutive starts at center before moving into a reserve role last season. His arrival helps the Saints replace starting center Will Clapp, who was lost for the year to injury earlier in camp.
