The National Football League’s late-August roster churn continued on Tuesday as two clubs released veteran wide receivers. The Carolina Panthers cut 29-year-old Hunter Renfrow, who had been attempting a comeback after spending 2019-23 with the Las Vegas Raiders. Renfrow signed with Carolina earlier in the offseason but had not secured a significant role in the team’s overhauled receiving corps. Separately, the Buffalo Bills released KJ Hamler. The former second-round pick, whose career has been hampered by injuries since entering the league with Denver in 2020, had joined Buffalo in the spring in search of a depth role behind the club’s established starters. Both players immediately become free agents and can sign with any team, adding experience to a wide-receiver market that is expected to remain fluid as franchises trim rosters to the regular-season limit ahead of next week’s deadline.
