Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty shook off a brief arm injury to score his first NFL preseason touchdown, helping the Raiders open a 10–3 lead over the San Francisco 49ers in Saturday’s Week 2 exhibition at Allegiant Stadium. Jeanty exited to the medical tent early in the first quarter but returned minutes later and immediately powered the offense. After safety Jeremy Chinn intercepted 49ers quarterback Mac Jones, Jeanty finished the ensuing drive with a short scoring run, bouncing off defender Ji’Ayir Brown at the goal line. The No. 6 overall draft pick closed the quarter with seven rushes for 33 yards and the touchdown. Head coach Pete Carroll had promised extended work for his starters, and Jeanty’s showing offered a turnaround from last week’s three-carry, minus-one-yard debut. The Raiders expect the former Boise State standout to anchor their rushing attack when the regular season opens next month.
