Texas quarterback Arch Manning said on Tuesday that he has not decided whether he will enter the 2026 NFL Draft, pushing back on earlier remarks by his grandfather, Hall-of-Famer Archie Manning, who publicly predicted the sophomore would remain in Austin for the 2026 season. “I’m really just taking it day by day right now,” the 21-year-old told reporters on Aug. 19, adding that Archie Manning has since apologised for the assumption he voiced in a Texas Monthly interview earlier this month. The elder Manning had said, “Arch isn’t going to do that. He’ll be at Texas.” Arch Manning opens his first full season as the Longhorns’ starter on Aug. 30 against defending national champion Ohio State. He enters the year with the shortest Heisman Trophy odds in the country at +600, according to ESPN, despite only two collegiate starts and 969 passing yards to date. Staying in college would allow Manning to continue benefiting from his lucrative name-image-likeness deals; On3 values his NIL portfolio at roughly $6.8 million, the highest of any NCAA athlete. For now, Manning said, his focus is on the upcoming season rather than draft eligibility.
