The Supreme Court of Pakistan, sitting as a constitutional bench led by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, dismissed by a 3–2 majority the petitions filed by five Islamabad High Court judges who had challenged their recent transfers and seniority adjustments. The court held that the reassignment of Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and related changes complied with the Constitution and existing law. It instructed the presidency to finalise outstanding matters of seniority "at the earliest," and said Justice Dogar will continue to serve at the Islamabad High Court until that process is complete. Separately, President Asif Ali Zardari has issued the Supreme Court Judges (Leave, Pension and Privileges) Amendment Order 2025, empowering the Chief Justice of Pakistan to approve, revoke or curtail any leave and to issue a mandatory No-Objection Certificate before a Supreme Court judge may travel abroad. The court’s registrar has circulated standing operating procedures requiring judges to request leave in advance, supply contact details while away and seek foreign-ministry facilitation only for official visits.
