The Anti-Defamation League has added the slogan “America First” to its glossary of antisemitic and extremist expressions, according to an update circulated on 15 Aug 2025. The move immediately drew criticism from conservative commentators and some self-described patriotic groups, who argued that branding the phrase as hate speech equates mainstream nationalism with extremism. Several online critics labeled the ADL itself “anti-American” and called for the organization to be sanctioned or investigated.

NEW: ADL has added the term “America First” to its glossary of antisemitic and hate speech terms.
Clint Russell Because the ADL works for Israel and the ADL simply labels "hateful" anyone and anything that gets in the way. Greenblatt should be deported. https://t.co/aHfQr4hNX5
Rachel Alexander Wow, this is so incredibly offensive to conservative Jews. America First means MAGA and Trump, and there is no greater friend to Israel than MAGA and Trump.
