The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia experienced a significant technical glitch in its ATM and digital payment system, allowing customers to withdraw and transfer money without limits for approximately 12 hours. This incident led to a reported loss of more than $40 million. In response, the bank has decided to start posting names and images of customers, specifically targeting students, who took advantage of this glitch to illegally withdraw large sums of money. The bank has set a deadline for these individuals to return the funds. Reports indicate that the bank has since recovered $11 million of the lost $40 million.
