Several U.S. lawmakers are calling for investigations into oil and gas companies for alleged price gouging and collusion to inflate gas prices. Senator Markey and Representative Frank Pallone are leading efforts to hold these companies accountable for profiteering at the expense of consumers. Representative Susie Lee and Representative Pramila Jayapal have also raised concerns about the impact of these practices on American families, with Jayapal noting that price-fixing by oil companies is costing families $2,000-$4,000 annually. Lee also highlighted reports of collusion with foreign cartels and the acquisition of public lands. Additionally, Representative Jamie Raskin is urging the Justice Department to address climate disinformation promoted by Big Oil. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is also involved in investigating corporate greed and profiteering.
New Mexicans are working hard, but still can’t get ahead thanks to rising costs at the grocery store. We need to crack down on corporate price gouging to lower food prices. I'm calling on @POTUS to issue an executive order to do just that. https://t.co/4Tl2aDebKx
High prices are crushing consumers across the country, and now we know why — oil companies have been price-fixing, costing families $2,000-$4,000/year. It has to stop. I’m glad @FTC is on the case to go after corporate greed and profiteering. https://t.co/MzTFkjz0cr
Americans shouldn’t be forced to pay for corporate greed at the gas pump. That’s why I’ve launched an investigation into concerns that oil companies may be colluding to drive up gas prices for their own profit. The American people deserve answers. https://t.co/DbpNNaMXb6
