In a significant crackdown on prison smuggling in Georgia, 150 individuals have been arrested in what is described as the largest criminal enterprise of its kind in the state's history. The operation, named 'Operation Skyhawk,' targeted a drone-based smuggling ring responsible for transporting contraband such as ecstasy, meth, guns, cell phones, and more into prisons. Among those arrested were eight Georgia Department of Corrections employees, highlighting the extensive nature of the operation. The investigation revealed the involvement of a drone repair shop owner, accused of aiding gangs in smuggling these items into jails. This monthslong probe has shed light on the sophisticated methods employed by criminals to breach prison security, resulting in the seizure of 87 items.
