Today, the United States has intensified its efforts against Russian disinformation campaigns by imposing sanctions on two individuals, Ilya Gambashidze and Nikolai Tupikin, and two entities accused of facilitating these operations. The Treasury Department's actions, coordinated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), are aimed at deterring the Kremlin's attempts to undermine democracy through a variety of means, including impersonating news websites, staging videos, and creating fake social media accounts. OFAC also included two crypto addresses in their designation. These sanctions are part of a broader strategy to disrupt the Kremlin-directed malign influence efforts in Europe and beyond.
