A shop owner in Chatham, Kent, has become the first person in the UK to be charged with operating an illegal cryptocurrency ATM, according to Kent Police. The individual, who owns a mobile phone shop, is accused of laundering approximately £300,000. This charge follows the ban on cryptocurrency ATMs in the UK since 2022. The man is alleged to have operated several unregistered crypto ATMs, laundering almost $400,000 in total.
