Apple is reportedly preparing its biggest shake-up to the iPhone launch cycle in more than a decade. A South Korean supply-chain report from ETNews, echoed by multiple specialist outlets, says the company will omit the standard iPhone 18 from its traditional September 2026 line-up. Instead, the 2026 event would centre on higher-end models—iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a thinner “iPhone 18 Air”—alongside Apple’s first foldable handset, which suppliers expect to retail for roughly $2,000 to $2,500. The shift would leave Apple showcasing only premium devices in the autumn window. The base iPhone 18 and a lower-priced iPhone 18e are said to be pencilled in for a separate launch in early 2027, effectively splitting future releases into two waves. Analysts following the supply chain say a staggered calendar could relieve production bottlenecks and give the foldable model greater visibility. Apple is also working on an “iPhone 17e” for 2026 that is tipped to adopt Dynamic Island and an A19 processor, signalling broader upgrades in the company’s entry range. Apple has not commented on the reported timetable, and the plans could still change before mass production begins.
