Apple has released the seventh developer betas of its upcoming operating systems including iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26 as the official launch approaches. These updates are part of the final testing phase ahead of the public release expected in the fall of 2025. Concurrently, Apple issued security updates for iOS 18.6.2, iPadOS 18.6.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.6.1 to address an actively exploited zero-day vulnerability (CVE-2025-43300) that affected iPhones, iPads, and Macs. This vulnerability was used in sophisticated targeted attacks involving malicious images to install spyware. The FBI has issued warnings about Russian FSB-linked hackers, specifically the Static Tundra group, exploiting a seven-year-old Cisco networking flaw to infiltrate critical infrastructure sectors globally, including telecom, education, and manufacturing networks. These cyber espionage activities involved stealing configurations, implanting malware like SYNful Knock, and hijacking network traffic. Apple advises users to update their devices immediately to mitigate these threats. The macOS 26 beta 7 reportedly includes a fix for the Cisco-related vulnerability. The security patches cover devices such as iPhone XS and later models, iPad Pro 13-inch, and later generations of iPad Pro 12.9-inch and 11-inch models.
