On December 19, the Justice Ministry reported that a Russian cyberattack had compromised critical government databases, taking them offline and potentially exposing sensitive information, including property ownership, biometric data, and tax records. Experts highlighted that such attacks undermine public trust in the government. Additionally, Russian state-owned digital service provider Rostelecom was implicated in a separate incident where hackers reportedly accessed the data of 150,000 users. The hacker group Silent Crow claimed responsibility for this breach and provided evidence of the hack. Rostelecom acknowledged the likelihood of a data leak from one of its contractors but stated that particularly sensitive personal data was not affected. The Ministry of Digital Development confirmed that the attack did not impact the state services platform, Gosuslugi. As of now, no reports of a data leak have been received by Roskomnadzor, the Russian telecommunications watchdog.
