Russian model and psychologist Kseniya Alexandrova, who represented her country in the 2017 Miss Universe pageant and was first runner-up in that year’s Miss Russia competition, has died from injuries sustained in a wildlife collision. She was 30. Alexandrova was traveling with her husband, Ilya, on 5 July along the M-9 highway in Tver Oblast when an elk leapt onto the road and crashed through the windshield of their Porsche Panamera. According to Russian media, the impact caused an open cranial-brain injury that left her unconscious; the husband, who was driving, was unharmed. Alexandrova remained in a coma at a Moscow intensive-care unit until her death on 12 August. Her modeling agency, Modus Vivendis, and the Miss Universe Organization confirmed the fatality and offered condolences, praising Alexandrova’s “beauty, kindness and inner strength.” The accident highlights the continuing risk of large wildlife encounters on Russian roads, particularly in forested regions such as Tver.
