San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is set to implement a ban on right turns on red at 200 intersections in various neighborhoods including South of Market, Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach, and the Financial District. The ban will cover most stop light intersections in downtown San Francisco, with the first restrictions starting this month. The decision by city officials will prohibit drivers from making right turns on red lights in much of downtown, including SoMa and the Financial District, with the Tenderloin area already designated as a no-turn-on-red zone.
