Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic sustained a right knee contusion during Slovenia’s 88–100 exhibition defeat to Latvia on Saturday, team officials and NBA reporter Marc Stein said. The 26-year-old guard left the court early in the second half after a teammate fell into his leg and briefly retreated to the locker room. Medical tests later confirmed the injury is only a bruise, and the five-time All-NBA selection rejoined the bench before the final buzzer. Sources close to the Slovenian camp said Doncic will remain with the squad and is expected to be available when EuroBasket opens on 27 August. The scare arrives less than a month after Los Angeles committed $165 million over three years to retain Doncic. He averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists in 28 games after joining the Lakers at February’s trade deadline, and holds career marks of 28.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists across 450 NBA appearances.
