Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber said the club’s summer recruitment has given the squad everything it needs to mount a Premier League title push as the new season opens Sunday away to Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Netherlands international, signed a year ago, acknowledged uncertainty over what to expect from United under Erik ten Hag but insisted the Gunners are focused on making a strong start against a challenging early schedule that also includes Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester City. Arsenal finished 10 points behind champions Liverpool last season yet have since added six permanent signings under sporting director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta. “We have the manager for it, we have the team for it, we have the club for it,” Timber said, echoing Arteta’s view that continued “digging” will unearth the club’s first league crown since 2004. Timber, who underwent minor ankle surgery at the end of last season, said he is fully fit and played down any suggestion of extra pressure, arguing the squad is strengthened and prepared to “fight for it all the way.”
