Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala issued his first public statement since undergoing surgery on a broken left fibula and torn ankle ligaments sustained during last week’s FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. In a video recorded from the Unfallklinik Murnau, the 22-year-old thanked fans for their support and stressed that “there is no one to blame for this. Situations like this happen,” absolving PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma of responsibility for the collision. Musiala was operated on 7 July at the specialist trauma centre and will remain hospitalised for several days while the surgical wound heals. Club doctors expect him to miss the bulk of the Bundesliga’s first half, with a return to training unlikely before November at the earliest, depending on rehabilitation progress.
