RCD Espanyol overturned an early deficit to lead Atlético de Madrid 2–1 with five minutes remaining in Sunday’s La Liga match at RCDE Stadium. Atlético struck first in the 9th minute when Julian Alvarez bent a free kick beyond goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco. Espanyol equalised just after the hour mark through centre-back Miguel Rubio, who pounced on a loose ball from a corner. The hosts completed the comeback in the 85th minute as Pere Milla curled a 20-metre shot into the top corner, sending the home crowd into celebration. Atlético pressed forward in search of a leveller, but Espanyol were poised to claim a valuable victory as regulation time expired.
