Everton have reached a verbal agreement with Southampton to sign 19-year-old winger Tyler Dibling for an initial £42 million. The package includes around £6 million in easily achievable performance-related add-ons and a 20 per cent sell-on clause for the Championship club. Southampton lowered their valuation after earlier rejecting a £37 million bid, enabling Everton to accelerate negotiations for their long-term target. Dibling, an England Under-19 international, is expected to undergo a medical next week before signing a long-term contract on Merseyside. The deal would be Everton’s eighth acquisition of the summer and pushes the club’s outlay in the current window past £100 million, as manager David Moyes seeks to strengthen a squad that opened the Premier League season with a defeat to Leeds United.
