Inter Miami CF has reached a deal to sign Argentina midfielder Rodrigo De Paul from Atlético de Madrid, according to reports in Spanish-language sports outlets. The 31-year-old World Cup winner will join the Major League Soccer club on a four-year contract after a transfer valued at about €15 million. De Paul made 187 appearances for Atlético, scoring 14 goals and supplying 26 assists, and is expected to link up immediately with former national-team team-mate Lionel Messi in Florida. The move further strengthens an Inter Miami squad that already features Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba as it targets silverware in the Leagues Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup and MLS. Messi, who is captain, is set to start in Wednesday night’s league fixture at FC Cincinnati as Inter Miami looks to consolidate its position in the Eastern Conference standings.
