Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty on 24 August 2025, sending his spot-kick high over the bar during the club’s Premier League match. The attempt would have marked United’s first goal of the new league campaign. The miss ends Fernandes’ perfect run from the penalty spot in Premier League play; he had last failed to convert on 6 December 2023. The Portugal midfielder had been one of the division’s most reliable takers, converting every league penalty he faced over the previous season and a half.
