Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said Rodri and Phil Foden have returned to fitness and will be available for the Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. Both players missed City’s 4–0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening weekend because they lacked training rhythm after injury lay-offs. Guardiola noted that Rodri, who suffered a groin problem during a pre-season tour in July after recovering from last season’s ACL injury, has come back ahead of the schedule he originally projected for after the September international break. Foden has also completed sufficient training to play a full part against Spurs. The coach added that Brazilian winger Savinho has not yet recovered and will sit out the match, while Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Marcus Bettinelli also remain unavailable. Questioned about the futures of Savinho and defender Manuel Akanji, Guardiola said only that “they are our players” and hinted further squad changes could occur before the transfer window closes.
