KPMG has rolled out an AI-driven “TaxBot” that prepares cross-border merger-and-acquisition tax advice, using a 100-page prompt loaded into the firm’s Workbench platform. The agentic system was developed over several months by dozens of employees who gathered tax best practices from KPMG offices worldwide. Chief Digital Officer John Munnelly told the Forrester APAC Technology & Innovation Summit that the tool produces a 25-page draft within a day—work that previously required about two weeks. Users provide four or five initial inputs, after which the bot requests guidance from a licensed professional before finalizing the document, restricting access to qualified tax agents only. Munnelly said the project has boosted employee satisfaction by automating repetitive tasks, generated unexpected new revenue streams and has not resulted in job losses. The firm plans to continue expanding its portfolio of AI agents as demand for faster, tailored advisory services grows.
