Microsoft has introduced a new AI-powered feature called the =COPILOT() function in Excel, currently available in the Beta Channel. This function allows users to input AI prompts directly into spreadsheet cells, enabling real-time data analysis, content generation, and brainstorming within the grid. The COPILOT function can categorize data, summarize feedback, generate tables, tags, and charts, and updates dynamically as the underlying data changes. It aims to simplify formula writing for analysts by allowing natural language prompts instead of complex syntax. While the feature is still in beta and requires improvements, it represents a significant step in integrating AI capabilities directly into Excelâs core functionality. Microsoft has cautioned users not to rely on the COPILOT function for fully accurate results at this stage.
