If you want access to cloud gaming without the $20 a month price tag, Xbox could be working on something for you. https://t.co/2AYYptgfWZ
An Xbox executive has suggested the brand wants to offer cloud gaming at a lower price. An exact plan from Microsoft has yet to be announced. https://t.co/XyL8TYelFx
Microsoft is weighing a lower-priced subscription dedicated to Xbox Cloud Gaming, company executives said on the official Xbox podcast released 19 Aug. Jason Ronald, vice-president of next-generation experiences, said the move would make cloud play "much more affordable" and help the platform reach more regions and devices. Streaming games via the cloud is currently limited to subscribers of Game Pass Ultimate, which costs US$19.99 a month and bundles downloads, discounts and other perks. Ronald said a growing share of Ultimate members use the cloud as either their primary or supplemental way to play, prompting Microsoft to study a stand-alone plan focused solely on streaming. Microsoft did not disclose pricing, launch timing or markets for the potential tier. The company is expected to provide further updates on its cloud strategy at forthcoming industry events, including Gamescom 2025, as it positions Xbox to compete with rival services from Nvidia and Sony.
