Obol Labs has released Charon v1 on July 1, a significant software for the Ethereum network, focusing on performance, security, and decentralization. The release is part of the efforts by the newly established Obol Collective on July 3, a group of projects in the Ethereum ecosystem aimed at advancing 'distributed validator technology' (DVT). Founding members of the Obol Collective include StakeETH, Oisin Kyne, and EigenLayer. The collective aims to enhance Ethereum's resilience and decentralization by testing Charon and enabling new validator services such as mev-commit. EigenLayer also contributes to this effort by enabling restaking on distributed validators, supporting the transition to DVs, and the Obol 1% for Decentralization initiative. This initiative also boosts security and profitability.
EigenLayer is proud to join the Obol Collective as a founding member, in order to build a resilient, decentralized consensus layer for Ethereum. By enabling restaking on distributed validators (DVs) we support the transition to DVs and support the Obol 1% for Decentralization… https://t.co/XpmAY3oWKB
🦾Proud to be a founding member of the @Obol_Collective! Together, we're advancing Ethereum’s resilience and decentralization. By testing Charon and enabling new validator services like mev-commit in combination with DVs, we support the transition to distributed validators. https://t.co/eOo7CREdAu
