Another massive week of AI and robotics news. I summarized everything from OpenAI, xAI, Google, Cognition, Figure, AWS, Meta, UBTECH, Pollen Robotics, Agility Robotics, and more. Here's everything you need to know and how to make sense out of it:
OpenAI has expanded its developer platform with new “deep research” versions of its o3 and o4-mini language models, adding built-in web search, code execution and remote MCP servers that can tap data held outside the public internet. The company said the real-time web search tool will cost $10 for every 1,000 calls, bringing the price of o3, o3-pro and o4-mini web queries in line with the new deep research tier. Webhooks and other workflow features are also included, allowing developers to assemble multi-step research agents in only a few lines of code. The release, introduced in late June, aims to help software makers build more sophisticated and scalable AI applications as competition in agentic large-language-model services intensifies.
