Bybit, a cryptocurrency exchange, has announced a partnership with Zodia Custody to enhance asset security for its institutional clients. This move follows a significant security breach in February, where Bybit lost approximately $1.46 billion due to operational security gaps that could have been prevented with proper threat modeling. The FBI's Baltimore field office has issued a warning about cryptocurrency investment fraud, particularly a scam known as 'pig butchering.' Over 100 Marylanders have been identified as victims of this scam, with one woman losing over $3 million. A new study indicates that 83% of crypto investors have fallen victim to scams or hacks, with an average loss per victim of $2,622. The scammers, often based in Southeast Asia, slowly gain the trust of their targets before convincing them to invest in cryptocurrency.
