Additionally, the Guardia Civil has alerted residents in areas prone to severe weather about a scam related to false alerts from the AEMET, Spain's meteorological agency. This follows a broader investigation into international scam call centers, which has uncovered a network of fraudsters operating across multiple countries, including Belgium, where victims have reported losses amounting to €45,000. The ongoing investigation, known as the Scam Empire project, aims to expose these criminal operations and educate the public about their methods.
