Levante squandered a two-goal lead against FC Barcelona in Sunday’s La Liga fixture at the Estadi Ciutat de València, with the visitors drawing level early in the second half. Referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández awarded Levante a penalty deep into first-half stoppage time after a VAR review judged Alejandro Balde to have handled in the area. Captain José Luis Morales converted from the spot in the 45+7th minute to add to Levante’s earlier strike and send the hosts into the break 2–0 up. Barcelona responded immediately after the restart. Pedri halved the deficit in the 49th minute with a 25-metre drive into the top corner, and two minutes later Ferran Torres equalised, finishing a rapid move initiated by teenager Lamine Yamal. With the score 2–2 after 75 minutes, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández introduced Robert Lewandowski and Andreas Christensen in search of a winner. The match remained in the balance heading into the final quarter-hour.
