FC Barcelona has extended Jules Koundé’s contract until 2030, strengthening the club’s core with a long-term commitment to the 26-year-old French defender. Koundé signed the agreement on Thursday at the Spotify Camp Nou offices alongside club president Joan Laporta, continuing a series of structural renewals the Catalan side is executing this summer. Addressing reporters after the signing, Koundé said the Champions League remains “an objective, not an obsession” for the squad and laughed off a question on the Ballon d’Or, noting that young teammate Lamine Yamal would be a worthy contender. The centre-back has made 142 appearances for Barcelona, and if he completes the new deal he would become the longest-serving French player in the club’s history.
